Meta Platforms is collaborating with AMD on a 6-gigawatt deployment of Instinct GPUs to power its expanding AI systems. This initiative aligns with AMD’s release of Ryzen AI 400 series processors and its $150 million Nutanix partnership, providing Meta with enhanced hardware capacity for next-generation workloads.
2. Expansion of In-House AI Chip Development
Meta plans to broaden its internal AI training chip efforts, having tested its first design in early 2025. CFO Susan Li noted that bespoke silicon could optimize performance for tailored workloads, lower infrastructure expenses, and reduce dependence on external suppliers like AMD and Nvidia.
