Meta Partners with Oklo on 1.2 GW Nuclear Campus, Hires Ex-Apple UI Chief

METAMETA

Meta Platforms is partnering with Oklo to construct a 1.2 GW nuclear campus in Ohio, breaking ground at Idaho National Laboratory for its commercial reactor and targeting full deployment by 2028. The company also appointed former Apple UI design head Alan Dye to bolster its product interface team.

1. Oklo Partnership and Nuclear Campus

Meta Platforms has entered a strategic partnership with Oklo to develop a 1.2 gigawatt nuclear power campus in Pickaway County, Ohio. Ground was broken at Idaho National Laboratory for Oklo’s first commercial microreactor, which will supply carbon-free electricity to Meta’s data centers and reduce reliance on grid power.

2. Aurora Reactor Deployment Plans

The Ohio campus will utilize Oklo’s Aurora reactor design, originally engineered for lunar bases and deep-space missions, aiming for full operational status by 2028. Early deployment will validate reactor performance, safety protocols and support Meta’s long-term infrastructure sustainability goals.

3. Strategic UI Leadership Hire

Meta strengthened its consumer technology teams by hiring Alan Dye, former head of user interface design at Apple, at the end of 2025. Dye’s track record leading iOS and hardware interface projects is expected to drive enhancements across Meta’s software and hardware product lines.
