Meta to Receive Millions of Nvidia Blackwell, Rubin GPUs and Grace CPUs
Nvidia agreed to sell Meta millions of its Blackwell and Rubin GPUs and standalone Grace and Vera CPUs under a multiyear partnership. The expanded supply deal accelerates Nvidia’s push into data center CPU markets, intensifying competition with Intel’s established server processor business.
1. Multiyear GPU and CPU Supply Agreement
Nvidia will provide Meta with millions of its current Blackwell and upcoming Rubin GPUs as well as standalone Grace and Vera CPUs over multiple years. The expanded volume includes deployment in Meta’s data centers for both AI model training and inference workloads.
2. Nvidia’s Data Center CPU Strategy
Grace and Vera processors are based on Arm architecture and designed for high-intensity back-end tasks such as database operations using half the power of conventional CPUs. This marks Nvidia’s effort to establish a foothold in the server CPU market alongside its GPU leadership.
3. Implications for Intel’s Server Business
Intel, which has dominated the CPU server space for decades, faces heightened competition as Meta scales Nvidia’s Arm-based CPU installations. The shift could pressure Intel’s market share and revenue from data center processors.
