Meta to sign EU AI Act code on transparency of AI-generated content
META•Meta signs EU AI Act transparency code
Meta confirmed it will sign the EU AI Act Code of Practice on transparency of AI-generated content.
The move extends its February 2024 rollout of labels for AI-generated content across Facebook, Instagram, and Threads.
Meta cited a research demo image-detection tool to help users assess whether an image was made with Meta AI.
Concerns over fragmented labeling regimes
Meta warned against fragmented labeling regimes that could confuse users while increasing regulatory complexity for providers.
The company plans to work with the EU AI Office to keep transparency standards practical, interoperable, and useful as technical standards evolve.
