Metals-Copper prices hit 6-month peak on low inventories
CPER•Other industrial metals are also supported
Overall, industrial metals were supported by weaker U.S. currency, which makes dollar-priced commodities cheaper for holders of other currencies.
Aluminium CMAL3 was up 0.4% at $3,265, zinc CMZN3 firmed 0.2% to $3,766, lead CMPB3 rose 0.4% to $1,903, tin CMSN3 added 0.3% to $56,345 and nickel advanced 0.3% to $16,860.
Copper rises to highest in more than six months
Copper prices hit their highest in more than six months on Monday due to worries about availability on the London Metal Exchange, where inventories are at their lowest since February.
Benchmark copper CMCU3 was up 0.9% at $14,290 a metric ton at 0923 GMT from an earlier high at $13,396. Prices of the metal used in the power and construction industries hit an all-time high at $14,527.5 in January.
