Methanex management says absence of prior-quarter impairment charge drives Q3 2026 net income rise
MEOH•Methanex said third-quarter 2026 shareholder net income rose to USD 265 million, primarily because the prior quarter included an impairment charge. Adjusted EBITDA fell to USD 543 million from USD 577 million, while operating cash flow reached USD 646 million.
1. Quarterly results
Methanex management attributed third-quarter 2026 shareholder net income growth to USD 265 million primarily to the prior quarter's impairment charge. Adjusted EBITDA declined to USD 543 million from USD 577 million, reflecting lower realized methanol prices and higher cash costs.
2. Operations and pricing
Management attributed continued methanol pricing strength to significant industry supply losses caused by the Middle East conflict. Production fell to 2,143,000 tonnes as seasonal gas constraints in Chile and Titan's indefinite idling offset strong North American operations. Operating cash flow reached USD 646 million, supported by higher year-over-year prices, increased produced sales volumes and working capital inflows.
