Methanex Q2 2026 earnings jump as methanol prices surge, company says
MEOH•Production and regional output
Production totaled 2,213,000 tonnes. Record North American output, including 1,027,000 tonnes at Geismar, offset weaker volumes in Chile, New Zealand, and Trinidad.
Impairment and restructuring charges
Results included a USD 115 million non-cash impairment charge, net of tax, tied to idling the Titan plant. A USD 12 million restructuring accrual also reduced Adjusted EBITDA.
Outlook points to softer near-term pricing
Management flagged a softer near-term setup, projecting a July–August realized price range of about USD 460 to USD 485 per tonne, implying lower Q3 Adjusted EBITDA.
Q2 earnings rise on higher methanol pricing
Methanex posted net income attributable to shareholders of USD 198 million for Q2 2026, while Adjusted EBITDA reached USD 577 million on higher methanol pricing.
Average realized methanol price rose to USD 529 per tonne from USD 351 in Q1, as the supply shock tied to the Middle East conflict lifted industry pricing.
