Microchip Launches Space-Grade DSA504RT Clock Generator with Six Outputs, 200 fs Jitter
MCHP•Microchip Technology has introduced the DSA504RT, a space-grade, radiation-tolerant clock generator featuring six configurable outputs and ultra-low jitter as low as 200 fs. The device streamlines spacecraft timing architectures by replacing multiple oscillators and buffers, reducing component count, mass, power consumption and improving system FIT rate.
1. Product Overview
Microchip Technology’s DSA504RT is a radiation-tolerant, six-output programmable clock generator designed for aerospace and defense applications. It integrates an Analog PLL with spread spectrum capability, two fractional and two integer dividers, and six configurable output buffers in a single device.
2. Technical Features
The DSA504RT delivers ultra-low jitter performance down to 200 femtoseconds across 12 kHz–20 MHz and complies with PCIe Gen1–Gen7 standards. Each output can be configured as LVPECL, LVDS, HCSL differential drivers or single-ended CMOS pairs, enabling replacement of multiple crystals and oscillators.
3. System Benefits
By consolidating clock generation into one chip, the device reduces board space, part count and overall BOM cost while lowering power consumption and mass. Improved integration enhances system reliability, boosting the Failures in Time rate for high-reliability space and defense systems.
4. Availability and Support
The DSA504RT is offered in QFN28 and CQFP32 packages with limited sampling available upon request. Customers can access Microchip’s radiation-qualified ecosystem and global technical support to accelerate design cycles and mitigate program risk.
