Microchip Unveils LX4580 24-Channel IC to Simplify Aviation and Defense Actuators
Microchip Technology introduced the LX4580, a 24-channel mixed-signal IC that consolidates MCUs, ADCs, motor drivers and sensors into a single 144-pin package for aviation and defense actuation systems. Its redundant architecture and integrated PWM outputs, dual SAR ADCs and sensor interfaces cut board space, weight and wiring complexity.
1. Product Introduction
Microchip Technology has launched the LX4580, a 24-channel mixed-signal IC engineered to streamline high-reliability actuation control systems in aerospace and defense. The device replaces multiple discrete components with a single 144-pin package to cut system size, weight and wiring demands.
2. Integrated Functionality
The LX4580 integrates pressure and temperature sensing, PWM motor drive outputs, current measurement, Hall effect inputs, dual LVDT/resolver interfaces and dual high-speed SAR ADCs. By consolidating MCUs, ADCs, DACs, drivers and regulators, it delivers precise timing alignment and broad sensor coverage in one chip.
3. Mission-Critical Architecture
A redundant architecture ensures fault tolerance and deterministic performance for More Electric Aircraft, guided defense systems, drones and launch platforms. This design enables manufacturers to meet safety and certification standards while minimizing board space and system complexity.
4. Availability and Support
The LX4580 is now available in production quantities through Microchip’s sales channels and authorized distributors. Development resources include an evaluation board, user guides and application documentation for rapid integration with Microchip MCUs.
