Microsoft opens fourth cloud region in India with Hyderabad launch

Microsoft launched its India South Central datacenter region in Hyderabad, its fourth cloud region in India, expanding local hyperscale capacity for AI workloads.

• The Hyderabad region runs across three availability zones, targeting data residency, resilience, business continuity, and sovereign-ready controls.
• Expansion builds on a USD 3 billion India cloud and AI infrastructure investment announced in January 2025, followed by USD 17.5 billion in December 2025.
• Microsoft said early demand is coming from financial services, digital platforms, and diversified enterprises seeking capacity for mission-critical applications.
• The region uses air-cooled chillers designed for zero-water cooling, aligning with Microsoft’s 2030 carbon negative, water positive, and zero waste targets.
