Midland Exploration Launches 1,600-Metre January Drill Program at Jouvex Near 3.038 Moz Douay Deposit
Midland Exploration begins 1,600-metre diamond drilling in January 2026 on its Jouvex gold property, located 10 km northwest of the Douay deposit (3.038 Moz indicated/inferred). Five planned holes will test newly identified magnetic and IP anomalies on an untested southern target near a major structure favorable for gold mineralization.
1. Drilling Program Commences on Jouvex Property
Midland Exploration has initiated a 1,600-metre helicopter-supported diamond-drilling campaign on its wholly owned Jouvex gold project, located 10 kilometres northwest of the Douay deposit in Quebec’s Abitibi region. The program, which began in mid-January 2026, will test five drill holes designed to intersect coincident magnetic and induced polarization (IP) anomalies. This marks the first ever drilling in the southern portion of the property; existing holes lie more than 350 metres to the northeast.
2. Historical Surveys Identify New Target Zone
Between 2024 and 2025, Midland completed two drone-borne magnetic surveys followed by a 30-line-kilometre IP survey over the southern Jouvex sector. Data interpretation revealed a strongly positive magnetic anomaly directly associated with a chargeability zone—a signature interpreted to represent disseminated sulphides between resistive footwall and hanging-wall units. This geophysical pairing aligns with the interpreted Casa-Berardi deformation zone, a structure that hosts gold mineralization at nearby deposits.
3. Geological Reassessment Highlights VMS Potential
A recent compilation of historical drill data led Midland to revise the subsurface model, adding a felsic tuff and volcanic unit sandwiched between Taïbi sediments and Cartwright mafic flows. These felsic horizons, absent from provincial databases, have been intersected in past holes and suggest potential for volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS) mineralization. Furthermore, truncation of the primary magnetic fabric at this contact hints at major faulting that could control emplacement of syenitic intrusions—known metallotects in the Abitibi gold belt.
4. Partnerships and Corporate Outlook
Midland leverages joint-venture agreements with industry leaders including Rio Tinto Exploration Canada, BHP Canada, Centerra Gold and Agnico Eagle Mines to advance its Quebec portfolio. The company is reviewing additional property acquisitions to expand its footprint in the Abitibi region. Qualified Person Richard D. St-Cyr, P.Geo., has prepared and approved all technical data underlying the Jouvex program in accordance with NI 43-101 standards.
