MiniMed Adds Abbott’s 15-Day Instinct Sensors to 780G and Go Systems in Europe
MMED•MiniMed launched its 780G and Go systems with Abbott’s 15-day Instinct and Instinct Go sensors across Europe after CE mark approval in June 2026. Clinical data from over 20,000 users showed similar glycemic outcomes with Instinct versus Simplera Sync, and 8,019 real-world users achieved 91% overnight Time in Range.
1. European Launch of Instinct Sensors
MiniMed announced the commercial launch in Europe of its 780G automated insulin delivery and Go MDI systems integrated with Abbott’s Instinct and Instinct Go sensors following CE mark approval. The rollout begins in June 2026 and will be phased across key European markets to expand sensor options for users.
2. Clinical Evidence and Real-World Results
A randomized crossover study of over 20,000 users demonstrated equivalent glycemic control using Instinct versus Simplera Sync sensors with the 780G system. In a separate real-world analysis of 8,019 MiniMed 780G users aged seven and older, the system delivered a 91% overnight Time in Range.
3. Strategic and Market Implications
By broadening sensor compatibility, MiniMed aims to enhance patient choice and drive system adoption among type 1 diabetes users in Europe. Integration of dose tracking and real-time alerts in the MiniMed Go platform seeks to improve adherence for those on multiple daily injections.
