XLB•JOGMEC agreement for Mizushima CCS hub design work
Mitsubishi Chemical Group joined five partners in signing a service agreement with JOGMEC for ship-based CCS design work in FY2026.
The scope covers CO2 separation, capture, liquefaction, temporary storage and shipping facilities for the Mizushima industrial cluster in Okayama.
The project targets shared infrastructure to cut costs across the industrial complex, supporting a CCS value chain for hard-to-abate emitters.
Estimated liquefied CO2 shipping volume at start-up is set at 3,430,000 tons a year, positioned as Japan’s largest cluster under development.
