MKS Announces 42% Scope 1 & 2 Emissions Cuts, 69% Supplier Targets by 2030
MKS Inc has committed to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions 42% by 2030 from a 2022 baseline. It also aims for 69% of its suppliers and customers by emissions to adopt science-based targets by 2030, aligning with a 1.5°C trajectory.
1. Approval of Science-Based Targets
MKS Inc received approval from the Science Based Targets initiative for near-term emissions reduction goals. The company will cut absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 42% by 2030, based on a 2022 baseline, in alignment with the 1.5°C Business Ambition trajectory.
2. Emissions Baseline and Scope Expansion
Since its initial commitment in December 2023, MKS recalculated its Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions inventory to encompass a broader portion of operations and expanded its Scope 3 categories. The company also committed that 69% of its suppliers and customers by emissions will set science-based targets by 2030.
3. Tracking and Reporting
MKS will report progress annually within its Environmental, Social and Governance report, using the SBTi framework for accountability and transparency. The approved targets provide a structured roadmap for reducing emissions across its value chain and operations.
