Mobileye to Deploy 100-Vehicle Robotaxi Fleet in 2027, Scale to 17,000
MBLY•Mobileye will launch a 100-vehicle robotaxi fleet in a major U.S. city in 2027 and scale to 17,000 vehicles over five years. It presents Innoviz with a LiDAR sales opportunity of over 150,000 units by integrating nine sensors per vehicle.
1. Robotaxi Business Launch and Scale
Mobileye will operate its own autonomous ride-hailing service combining Mobileye Drive with its Moovit mobility platform. The service will begin with about 100 vehicles in a major U.S. city in 2027, expanding to roughly 17,000 vehicles by 2032 to establish a large-scale robotaxi network.
2. Technology Integration
Each robotaxi is outfitted with Mobileye Drive, a standalone self-driving system integrating nine InnovizTwo LiDAR sensors alongside imaging radars and high-resolution cameras to ensure full 360-degree coverage and precise 3D sensing in urban environments.
3. Market and Supplier Opportunity
By deploying nine LiDAR units per vehicle, Mobileye’s robotaxi program creates a potential market for over 150,000 Innoviz LiDAR sensors. This represents a significant new revenue stream for Innoviz and underscores the strategic importance of its sensor technology in autonomous mobility.
