Moderna appoints Juan Andres as chief operating officer

Moderna created a chief operating officer role as it scales operations for a broader oncology push. Juan Andres will return to the company on Oct. 5, 2026, reporting to CEO Stéphane Bancel.

Andres previously served as Moderna’s chief technical operations and quality officer from 2018 to 2022, then led strategic partnerships and enterprise expansion. Jerh Collins will retire as chief technical operations and quality officer.
