Moderna shares whipsaw for third session on cancer vaccine trial data

Friday's bounce marks a third straight session of outsized swings tied to the late-stage cancer vaccine trial data reported on Wednesday by Moderna and Merck MRK.N.
Moderna surged nearly 177% on Wednesday and shed 23.6% on Thursday, as the mRNA trade keeps whipsawing with no fresh clinical information hitting on Friday.
More than 45.3 million MRNA shares traded, about 3 times the stock's 30-day average volume.
Shares of Merck were up nearly 3%, while the Nasdaq Biotechnology Index .NBI was up 1.9%.
At least seven brokerages raised their PT on Moderna this week following the trial results.
As of last close, MRNA was up more than fivefold YTD.
