Nubank is in early-stage talks with Monzo about a potential combination, which could value the British digital bank at between £8 billion and £10 billion. An acquisition is one of two options Monzo's board is exploring; the other is a funding round expected to value Monzo above £8 billion, with proceeds earmarked for expansion into mainland Europe.

Monzo and Nubank declined to comment. Monzo reported pretax profit of £87.3 million for the year ended March 31, up from £60.5 million a year earlier, and revenue of £1.7 billion, compared with £1.2 billion. Monzo was last valued at £4.5 billion in an employee share sale in October 2024.
