Moocoo Ventures says AI data center buildout strains power supply and spurs energy startup demand
XLU•Moocoo Ventures said rising AI computing demand is outpacing power, grid and generation buildouts. It pointed to a proposed $31.9 billion data center campus in Australia and expected investment in energy startups serving data centers.
1. Power constraints and startups
Moocoo Ventures’ analysis flagged a widening gap between fast-rising AI compute demand and slower power, grid and generation buildouts. It said Australia could benefit as foreign capital seeks faster “speed to power,” including through a proposed $31.9 billion data center campus. The analysis cited Moocoo’s backing of Enaxiom as early evidence of deal flow for startups addressing data center cooling constraints, and named on-device inference, data residency rules, cheaper long-duration storage and a pullback in AI infrastructure spending as downside risks.
