Moocoo Ventures sees AI credit squeeze favoring hyperscalers over neoclouds
CRWV•Moocoo Ventures said rising government borrowing could squeeze AI infrastructure financing, putting debt-heavy neocloud providers at risk. CoreWeave's 2031 bonds yielded nearly 16%, while Gartner estimates about 80% of neocloud providers could shut down by 2030.
1. Financing risks grow
Moocoo Ventures said rising government borrowing could constrain financing for AI infrastructure despite resilient demand, putting heavily indebted neocloud providers at risk. CoreWeave's 2031 bonds yielded nearly 16% and traded around 79 cents on the dollar as investors shifted toward higher-quality debt.
2. Potential industry shifts
Gartner estimates that about 80% of neocloud providers could shut down by 2030, potentially shifting infrastructure investment toward better-capitalized hyperscalers. Moocoo Ventures said tighter financing could depress startup valuations, hinder follow-on funding and close exit windows, while capital scarcity could favor startups working on AI efficiency, power access and data center cooling.
