Morgan Stanley Asia deals reportedly leaked in missent email attachment
MS•Morgan Stanley’s Asia financial sponsors deal pipeline was reportedly leaked after a banker mistakenly attached it to a client email; the list contained about 60 live deals, over 50 pitching deals and nearly 30 on hold.
1. Pipeline sent by mistake
A senior Morgan Stanley banker covering financial sponsors in Asia accidentally attached the group’s deal pipeline to a weekly email sent to clients. The banker later retracted the email, apologized and asked recipients to delete the attachment and not circulate it.
2. Dozens of deals listed
The list, dated September 21, contained about 60 live IPO, M&A and block trade deals across Greater China, South Korea, Southeast Asia, India and EMEA. It also included over 50 deals categorized as pitching and nearly 30 on hold, all concerning Asian companies. The list did not contain deal details.
3. Bank response
A Morgan Stanley spokesperson said the bank takes client confidentiality extremely seriously, promptly took steps to address the inadvertent sharing and continues to engage with relevant parties.
