Morgan Stanley raised its year-end S&P 500 target to 8,000 and set a 12-month forecast of 8,300, citing a projected 23% jump in S&P 500 EPS to $339 in 2026. The firm also estimated that Ford Energy's grid-battery venture could generate $600 million in annual EBIT within a few years.

1. Year-End S&P 500 Target Elevated

Morgan Stanley boosted its year-end S&P 500 target from 7,800 to 8,000 and set a 12-month outlook of 8,300, driven by expectations of resilient corporate profits and rapid AI adoption. The firm projects S&P 500 companies will earn $339 per share in 2026, reflecting 23% growth year-over-year and citing operating leverage rather than higher valuation multiples.

2. Ford Energy Grid-Battery EBIT Projection

In its sector research, Morgan Stanley estimated that Ford Energy’s forthcoming grid-battery business could contribute $600 million in annual EBIT within a few years. The projection assumes licensing of CATL’s technology, a $2 billion site retooling plan, up to 20 gigawatt-hours of battery capacity by 2027, and rising U.S. power demand from data centers and electrification.
