Motiva returns Texas refinery CDU to production after power blip, sources say
XLE•Refinery unit returns after brief outage
Motiva Enterprises returned the second-largest crude distillation unit (CDU) at its 656,400-barrel-per-day Port Arthur, Texas, refinery to normal operation after a brief electrical power interruption on Friday, people familiar with plant operations said.
The power blip knocked the 200,000-bpd VPS-4 CDU out of production shortly before 12 p.m. CDT (1700 GMT) on Friday, triggering the plant’s safety flare, said the two sources, who requested anonymity because they are not authorized to speak publicly.
