Motorola Solutions to Acquire D-Fend Solutions for $1.5 Billion, Closing Q4 2026
MSI•Motorola Solutions will acquire Israeli startup D-Fend Solutions for $1.5 billion, with the transaction expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026. D-Fend’s EnforceAir system, deployed in over 30 countries, has driven more than 50% annual revenue growth and is forecast to generate $185 million in 2026.
1. Deal Overview
Motorola Solutions has agreed to acquire Israeli counter-drone specialist D-Fend Solutions for $1.5 billion, with the transaction set to close in the fourth quarter of 2026. The deal follows last year’s $4.4 billion purchase of Silvus Technology, extending Motorola’s unmanned systems portfolio into drone and anti-drone capabilities.
2. Technology and Deployments
Founded in 2016, D-Fend’s flagship EnforceAir platform uses radio-wave hijacking to intercept and safely land unauthorized UAVs without jamming communications. Its systems are deployed across more than 30 countries, including NATO members, and are in service with U.S. Homeland Security, Defense and Justice departments to protect critical infrastructure.
3. Financials and Market Growth
D-Fend has achieved over 50% annual revenue growth for the past three years and projects $185 million in full-year 2026 revenue. The global anti-drone market is valued at $2.47 billion for 2026 and is forecast to reach $8.42 billion by 2031, driven by rising security threats.
4. Strategic Rationale
Rogue drone incidents targeting airports, data centers and other vital assets have spurred governments to seek non-destructive countermeasures under legislation such as the Safer Skies Act. Motorola aims to capitalize on this trend by integrating D-Fend’s takeover tools with its existing secure communications offerings.
