MSG Sports board approves spin-off of Rangers business from Knicks business
MSGS•Madison Square Garden Sports approved a spin-off of its Rangers business, expected to be completed on October 26, 2026. Stockholders will receive one MSG Rangers share for every two MSG Sports shares; the company will be renamed MSG Knickerbockers Corp.

Madison Square Garden Sports said its board approved separating the Rangers business from the Knicks business, with the spin-off expected to be completed on October 26, 2026. MSG Sports stockholders will receive one MSG Rangers share for every two MSG Sports shares, and the distribution is intended to qualify as tax-free for U.S. federal income tax purposes.
2. Company and shares
The remaining company will be renamed MSG Knickerbockers Corp. and include the Knicks and Westchester Knicks. Common stock will trade as MSGS and MSGK WI on the NYSE.
