Nano Nuclear subsidiary STS recognized for role in two award-winning DOE missions
NNE•Nano Nuclear subsidiary Secured Transportation Services was recognized for contributions to two DOE missions that received Secretary of Energy Achievement Awards on Sept. 28, 2026. The missions involved shipments of approximately 1,700 kilograms of high-assay low-enriched uranium and 13,500 grams of highly enriched uranium.
1. DOE mission awards
Secured Transportation Services (STS), a Nano Nuclear subsidiary, coordinated Japan’s shipment of approximately 1,700 kilograms of high-assay low-enriched uranium to the U.S., described as the largest international uranium shipment in NNSA history. For a Venezuela mission, STS coordinated U.S. receipt and inland transportation of approximately 13,500 grams of highly enriched uranium to Savannah River Site; the recovered uranium is expected to support advanced reactor fuel development and the domestic nuclear fuel supply chain.
2. Separate uranium delivery
STS also delivered LIS Technologies’ first uranium hexafluoride shipment for its Oak Ridge, Tennessee, testing program, supporting development of laser-based enrichment technology.
