AFWERX Phase I award supports KRONOS microreactor work
Nano Nuclear Energy won an AFWERX SBIR Phase I contract to advance its KRONOS MMR Energy System for U.S. Air Force needs.
The program targets development work on microreactor-based energy resilience for defense installations, expanding the company’s defense commercialization pathway.
Work is set to begin July 21, 2026, adding to existing Department of the Air Force engagements tied to potential future deployments.
