Natera's Signatera detects gastroesophageal cancer recurrence over seven months ahead of imaging in trial
NTRA•Natera said Signatera detected gastroesophageal cancer recurrence more than seven months before standard imaging in the ICONIC trial. The company will present 20 abstracts at the European Society for Medical Oncology congress in Madrid from October 23-26, 2026.
1. Trial findings
In the ICONIC gastroesophageal cancer trial, clearance of molecular residual disease during preoperative therapy was linked to lower recurrence risk and favorable pathological response. Signatera Genome detected all evaluable recurrences during surveillance, identifying them more than seven months before standard imaging.
2. Other study results
In the phase III SAGITTARIUS colon cancer trial, Signatera results prompted treatment changes, predominantly toward less intensive therapy after negative results. A metastatic breast cancer analysis found sustained negative results among most exceptional responders, supporting the potential for Signatera-guided reductions in treatment intensity.
