National Bankshares Q2 FY26 net income rises 119.7% to $5.03 million; net interest margin widens 44 bps to 3%

National Bankshares posted net income of USD 5.03 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, more than doubled from USD 2.29 million.
Diluted EPS rose to USD 0.79 from USD 0.36, while return on average assets climbed to 1.10% from 0.51%.
Net interest margin expands on higher yields
Net interest margin widened to 3.00% from 2.56% on higher loan and securities yields, partly offset by lower interest-bearing deposit yields.
Noninterest income and expense move in opposite directions
Noninterest income increased 16.10% to USD 2.65 million, including a USD 6.57 million gain on an equity investment offset by a USD 6.55 million securities sale loss.
Noninterest expense fell 12.10% to USD 9.3 million, reflecting the absence of in core system conversion costs booked a year earlier.
