NCC Group says global ransomware attacks rise 3% in Q2 2026

NCC Group reported global ransomware attacks rose 3% to 2,229 in Q2 2026 from 2,165 in Q1.

June recorded 665 attacks; Industrials led targeting with 183 incidents, or 28% of the month’s total.

North America remained the top region with 980 attacks in Q2, or 44%; June logged 275, or 41%.

Qilin stayed the most active ransomware group with 14% of Q2 attacks; it accounted for 79 incidents, or 12%, in June.

The report flagged rising supply-chain compromise via trusted software tools; corporate VPNs and edge devices remained high-priority entry points.
