NEAR Protocol Rallies 50% on $18B Crosschain Volume and AI Pivot

NEARNEAR

NEAR token has risen 50% over 90 days due to upgrades like Nightshade sharding, account abstraction, separate blockchain and runtime layers, and chain signatures. NEAR Intents processed $18B in crosschain volume—$5B since February 2026—and NEAR AI, both supported by $NEAR buybacks, aim to capture value for holders.

1. Protocol Upgrades and Token Rally

NEAR Protocol’s token has surged roughly 50% over the past 90 days as the network deploys a series of technical innovations, including Nightshade sharding, native account abstraction, separate blockchain and runtime layers, and chain signatures to streamline multichain account management.

2. NEAR Intents and Crosschain Volume

NEAR Intents offers a unified multichain interoperability model that lets users execute crosschain swaps with a single NEAR account and competitive solver network. Integrations with Zashi, Infinex, Kyber, Ledger, and LI.FI have helped process over $18 billion in cumulative crosschain volume, including $5 billion since February 2026, with Confidential Intents now enabling privacy-focused transfers.

3. NEAR AI and Buyback Strategy

The NEAR AI initiative is being built to support AI-driven agent commerce, and both NEAR Intents and NEAR AI mechanisms are backed by a $NEAR buyback policy aimed at capturing network value and rewarding token holders.
