Netflix raises U.S. subscription fees by $1–$4 across three plans
Netflix will increase U.S. ad-supported plan to $8.99, ad-free standard to $19.99 and premium to $26.99 per month, marking its first hike since January 2025. New subscribers see changes from March 26 and existing users receive 30-day notice despite global subscriber count topping 325 million.
1. Tiered Price Increases
Netflix announced U.S. subscription fee hikes across all three tiers: the ad-supported plan rises by $1 to $8.99, the ad-free standard plan by $2 to $19.99, and the premium plan by $4 to $26.99. Adding extra non-household members also costs $1 more, with fees now at $7.99 for ad-supported and $9.99 for other tiers.
2. Rollout Schedule and Subscriber Base
New U.S. subscribers will see the updated pricing from March 26, while existing members will receive email notices 30 days before their next billing cycle reflects the increase. The changes come as Netflix’s global paying subscriber count has surpassed 325 million.
3. Strategic Context and Content Slate
This marks Netflix’s first price increase since January 2025 and follows its live broadcast of MLB Opening Day. The streamer is bolstering its offering with upcoming releases such as BTS concert events, the film Apex, a new Narnia adaptation, Season 2 of Avatar: The Last Airbender, and sports events including WWE, a Tyson Fury bout, MLB’s Home Run Derby and Field of Dreams game.
