Netherlands Clears Tesla’s FSD After 18-Month Trial, Priced at €99/Month

TSLATSLA

Netherlands vehicle authority RDW granted Tesla approval for its supervised Full Self-Driving system after 18 months of tests, allowing hands-off steering, braking and acceleration under driver supervision. Tesla will offer FSD Supervised in the Netherlands at 99 euros/month or 7,500 euros upfront and is seeking EU-wide clearance.

1. Netherlands Approval

The Netherlands' RDW issued type approval for Tesla's supervised Full Self-Driving system after more than 18 months of track and public road tests. The approval permits the system to control steering, braking and acceleration under continuous driver supervision, marking the first EU regulatory green light for Tesla’s autonomy software.

2. Rollout and Pricing

Tesla plans to begin rolling out FSD Supervised to Dutch customers soon, offering the feature at 99 euros per month or a one-time fee of 7,500 euros. Drivers must remain attentive and ready to take control, with phone use and reading prohibited while the system is engaged.

3. EU Expansion and Market Impact

The RDW intends to seek approval for the supervised FSD system across the European Union, a process requiring majority support from member states. Improved European demand—with February sales edging higher for the first time in over a year—could bolster Tesla’s valuation and support its autonomy-driven growth strategy.
