NetScout says DDoS attacks above 1 Tbps or 1 Gpps jump 1,286% in 1H 2026
NTCT•NetScout’s report logged more than 9.1 million DDoS attacks worldwide in the first half of 2026. Attacks exceeding 1 Tbps or 1 Gpps rose 1,286% year over year.
1. Attack totals rise
NetScout’s 1H 2026 DDoS threat report logged more than 9.1 million attacks across 209 countries and territories. Attacks exceeding 1 Tbps or 1 Gpps jumped 1,286% year over year.
2. Methods and duration
Direct-path methods made up 64% of observed attacks. IPv6 attacks exceeded 1 Tbps for the first time, while active IPv6 mitigation rose more than 300% year over year. Attacks lasting one minute or less roughly doubled as a share since the second half of 2023.
