Nevada’s Only Refinery Enters Production with 10,000-Barrel Inventory and 100,000-Barrel Storage
CVI•Sky Quarry is entering production at its Foreland Refinery near Ely, Nevada, with 10,000 barrels of crude on-site and operations set to begin in July. The facility boasts over 100,000-barrel storage capacity, providing strategic in-state refining as Western US capacity contracts.
1. Transition to Production
Sky Quarry is shifting focus from repairs and balance-sheet work to active operations at its Foreland Refinery near Ely, Nevada. Management expects refinery runs to begin in July, marking the transition into a revenue-generating phase.
2. Inventory and Storage
On-site inventory includes roughly 10,000 barrels of crude oil and intermediate products moving through the refining process, while storage infrastructure now exceeds 100,000 barrels of capacity. This setup gives the company immediate operational readiness and flexibility in feedstock management and product distribution.
3. Strategic Regional Position
Nevada’s lack of in-state refining capacity and the broader contraction of Western US refineries enhance Foreland’s market position. The refinery’s location reduces long-haul import costs, positioning Sky Quarry to serve local and Intermountain West fuel demand with lower logistical overhead.
