New Jersey American Water increased capital expenditures to $781 million in 2025, up 50% from $520 million in 2024, funding water and wastewater improvements across 190 service communities in New Jersey.
2. Key Infrastructure Projects
In 2025 the company installed, replaced or rehabilitated 42.42 miles of water mains ($241 million), replaced 16,035 service lines ($127 million), updated 562 fire hydrants and 2,217 valves ($20 million), and rehabilitated three storage tanks ($7.8 million).
3. Treatment Facility Upgrades
A $78.6 million outlay supported PFAS-removal equipment installation, new membrane systems and chemical system modifications at the Salem Water Treatment Plant, along with conversion of the Jumping Brook plant from gas to alternative energy sources.
4. Economic and Operational Impact
The 2025 investment supported the creation of over 12,490 jobs statewide, strengthened system reliability, maintained water costs at about one cent per gallon, and aligned infrastructure to evolving regulations and customer growth.
