Newmont’s Gold Reserves Drop to 118.2M Ounces; Copper Reserves at 12.5M Tonnes

Newmont’s 2025 proven and probable gold reserves fell to 118.2 million attributable ounces from 134.1 million in 2024, driven by 8.6 million ounces of asset divestments, 7.2 million ounces of depletion and reclassifications. The company also holds 12.5 million tonnes of copper reserves and 442 million ounces of silver.

1. 2025 Gold Reserves Decline

Newmont reported 118.2 million attributable ounces of proven and probable gold reserves at year-end 2025, down from 134.1 million ounces in 2024. The 16 million-ounce reduction was driven by 8.6 million ounces of asset divestments, 7.2 million ounces of mining depletion and reserve reclassifications.

2. Diversified Metal Reserve Base

The company’s portfolio includes 12.5 million attributable tonnes of copper reserves and 442 million attributable ounces of silver reserves, alongside significant measured, indicated and inferred resources in both metals. Key sites such as Lihir, Cadia, Tanami and Nevada Gold Mines each have operating reserve lives exceeding ten years.

3. Earnings Slate Absence

Newmont is not scheduled to report quarterly earnings on the upcoming Thursday earnings slate, which features major retailers like Walmart, indicating no immediate earnings catalyst for the company in that period.
