Nexalin device improves sleep quality in mild Alzheimer’s patients in sham-controlled study
NXL•Nexalin Technology said published TRANSFORM-AD results showed its Gen-2 SYNC device significantly improved sleep in mild Alzheimer’s patients compared with sham treatment. Neither group experienced serious adverse events, while benefits for anxiety, depression and quality of life remained inconclusive.
1. Study results
The randomized, blinded TRANSFORM-AD trial compared Nexalin Technology’s Gen-2 SYNC brain-stimulation device with sham treatment in patients with mild Alzheimer’s disease. The published results showed significantly improved sleep with the device; neither group experienced serious adverse events, and the duration of the sleep improvement is unknown.
2. Further research
The publication is the fourth peer-reviewed article on the company’s technology in Alzheimer’s disease, including multiple analyses of TRANSFORM-AD. Nexalin plans a U.S. pilot study following FDA feedback on the device’s potential De Novo classification pathway.
