NextCure Q2 FY26 net loss narrows to $14.89 million; R&D expenses drop to $7.43 million

NextCure posted a Q2 net loss of $14.89 million, narrowing from a $26.81 million loss a year earlier.
R&D expense fell 69.18% to $7.43 million; G&A expense declined 18.74% to $2.59 million.
Merger with Avere Therapeutics
NextCure signed a definitive all-stock merger deal with Avere Therapeutics. The combined company is expected to trade as Avere under ticker “AVRX”.
Impairment charges and liquidity
Asset impairment charges were $5.08 million. Cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities totaled $20.09 million at June 30, down from $41.82 million at Dec. 31.
Management commentary and financing
Management said it is preserving capital to support a second-half 2026 close. Avere’s concurrent private financing targets about $320 million in gross proceeds.
