NXDR•Nextdoor's September 2026 survey found 78% of neighbors plan home renovations within 12 months, 16% higher than the general population. Thirty-five percent expect costs above $25,000, while 19% anticipate spending at least $50,000.

The survey found that 50% of respondents worry about staying within budget and 44% fear unexpected costs. Fifty-eight percent said they are very likely to open a new credit card before renovating, and 26% plan to use home equity loans. Professional help is expected for 43% of renovations, while 54% expect to use Nextdoor to find professionals.
