NextNav and Safran test 5G-based positioning and timing interoperability
NextNav signed an agreement with Safran Electronics & Defense to integrate and test interoperability between its terrestrial 5G PNT network and Safran receivers.
Demonstration will use NextNav’s Santa Clara County, California network to assess performance in real-world operating environments.
Program targets more resilient positioning and timing by adding a terrestrial 5G layer alongside GPS and other GNSS.
Testing results are expected to inform potential use across critical infrastructure, autonomous systems, public safety, drones and national security.
