NextNRG Starts Pre-Construction on 724 kW Solar, 1 MWh Battery Healthcare Microgrids
NXXT•NextNRG has begun pre-construction on healthcare microgrids at Torrance’s Sunnyside Nursing Center and Canoga Park’s Topanga Terrace, deploying 724 kW of solar capacity and 1 MWh of battery storage under 28-year PPAs. These first owned-and-operated assets promise resilient, lower-cost energy and recurring revenue from long-term contracts.
1. Pre-Construction Launch
NextNRG has initiated engineering, permitting and project planning for microgrids at Sunnyside Nursing Center in Torrance and Topanga Terrace in Canoga Park. Pre-construction covers site surveys, stamped structural and electrical drawings, HCAI-compliant permitting, equipment procurement and utility interconnection.
2. Project Specifications and Contract Terms
The combined systems will deliver 724 kW of rooftop solar generation and 1 MWh of battery energy storage. NextNRG will own, operate and maintain both assets under 28-year power purchase agreements, providing facilities resilient backup power and long-term cost certainty without upfront capital investment.
3. Strategic Market Opportunity
California Assembly Bill 2511 mandates at least 96 hours of backup power for skilled nursing facilities, creating strong demand for resilient energy solutions. By integrating on-site generation and storage, NextNRG’s microgrids also reduce peak demand charges, addressing rising electricity costs and aging grid infrastructure.
