Nike Cuts 1,400 Operations and Tech Roles in Turnaround Restructuring
Nike is cutting 1,400 global operations and technology roles, representing under 2% of its workforce across North America, Europe and Asia, as part of the “next phase” of its “Win Now” turnaround plan. The move will consolidate tech teams into two hubs and modernize Air Manufacturing Innovation facilities in Oregon, Missouri and Vietnam.

Nike’s COO announced the elimination of approximately 1,400 operations and technology positions across North America, Europe and Asia, accounting for less than 2% of its global headcount. This marks the second major wave of cuts in 2026, following 775 roles removed in January at US distribution centers.

The reductions are part of the “next phase” of Nike’s “Win Now” turnaround strategy aimed at strengthening its foundation, simplifying complexity and sharpening competitive focus. Leadership intends to align team structures, capabilities and footprint to support long-term profitable growth.
3. Operational Changes
Key actions include consolidating Nike’s technology footprint into the Philip H. Knight Campus (Beaverton, Ore.) and the Nike India Technology Center, and modernizing Air Manufacturing Innovation facilities in Beaverton, St. Louis and Vietnam. Converse footwear engineering and materials supply chain functions will be integrated into Nike’s core teams to streamline processes.
