Nio Prices ES9 SUV From 390,000 Yuan, Secures Over 50,000 Pre-Orders
NIO•Nio priced its ES9 SUV at 498,000 yuan including battery or 390,000 yuan via BaaS, below earlier pre-sale levels, generating over 50,000 pre-orders with conversion rates above 50%. Onvo’s upgraded L60 SUV will debut May 29 in Shenzhen featuring Nio’s 5nm automotive chip and LiDAR-equipped variants.
1. ES9 Pricing and Market Response
Nio set the ES9 starting price at 498,000 yuan including battery or 390,000 yuan through Battery-as-a-Service, undercutting earlier pre-sale levels and driving investor optimism. Shares jumped over 6% in Hong Kong and 9% in U.S. trading after the SUV amassed more than 50,000 pre-orders with conversion rates above 50%.
2. Battery-as-a-Service Model
The BaaS option reduces ES9’s up-front cost to 390,000 yuan, boosting affordability in China’s premium EV market. The model leverages Nio’s NT3.0 platform, 900-volt architecture and delivers nearly 700 horsepower, mirroring technology from the ET9 sedan to enhance performance.
3. Onvo L60 AI-Powered Upgrade
Onvo will unveil its refreshed L60 at the Shenzhen Auto Show on May 29, showcasing Nio’s in-house 5nm automotive chip and new LiDAR-equipped variants. The upgrade ties into Nio’s World Model assisted-driving system, underscoring the company’s focus on AI-driven hardware and software integration in its sub-brand lineup.
