Nio leverages a distributor-led model in right-hand-drive and lower-tariff regions to manage costs amid global trade barriers. Firefly has launched in Singapore and Thailand and aims to expand into nearly 40 countries.
Firefly delivered 5,663 units in May—15% of Nio’s monthly sales—and 22,226 vehicles in the first five months. The brand surpassed 50,000 cumulative deliveries in March and targets 100,000 by year-end.
U.S.-listed shares of Nio rose 1% overnight, though the stock is down 10% so far in June heading for a second monthly loss. Nio also marked the 10th anniversary of its UK R&D center by opening a new engineering facility in Oxfordshire to support future models.
