NI•NiSource renames generation subsidiary in reorganization move
NiSource reorganized its generation subsidiary by renaming NIPSCO Generation to NiSource Generation Company, branded as GenCo.
The move aims to align the unit more clearly within NiSource while separating it from NIPSCO’s regulated utility operations.
Strategy remains unchanged, using a “growth pays for growth” model that assigns new generation and transmission costs to large-load customers.
The structure is expected to deliver about $1.4 billion of direct bill credits to NIPSCO electric customers over 15 years.
