Nokia, SoftBank agree to commercial AI-RAN trial in Japan in 2027
NOK•Nokia and SoftBank agreed to conduct an AI-RAN field trial in Japan in 2027 under commercial network traffic conditions. It will combine Nokia’s anyRAN software and SoftBank’s AITRAS platform, using Nvidia accelerated computing.
1. Trial plans
The trial will combine Nokia’s anyRAN software with SoftBank’s AITRAS platform and use Nvidia accelerated computing to validate AI-RAN for commercial deployment. Integration with the AITRAS Orchestrator will test coordinated management of AI and radio network workloads while preserving carrier-grade operational requirements.
