Nomad Foods has invested £2.2m in a new potato-waffle production line at its Lowestoft site, boosting annual capacity by 18,250 tonnes (45 million waffles) for UK and Ireland markets. The company targets €200m in operational savings from 2026 to 2028 to fund reinvestments and offset inflationary pressures.
Nomad Foods has allocated £2.2m to install a new production line at its Lowestoft facility in eastern England, focusing on potato-waffle products under the Birds Eye brand. The investment reflects the company’s response to consumer demand for affordable frozen foods amid ongoing cost pressures.
The new line increases the site’s annual output by 18,250 tonnes, equivalent to around 45 million potato waffles, serving retail and wholesale customers across the UK and Ireland. This enhancement aims to secure supply continuity and meet rising volume requirements for value-driven frozen products.
In September, Nomad Foods outlined a target of €200m in operational savings over the 2026-2028 period, driven by procurement, logistics, and overhead efficiencies. Management plans to redeploy these savings into targeted reinvestments and to cushion the business against inflationary headwinds.
In 2025, Nomad Foods reported a 2.2% decline in sales to €3.03bn and operating profit down from €387m to €325.4m, with net profit falling to €227.1m. The company forecast organic revenue to drop 2-5% and adjusted EBITDA to decline 5-10% in 2026, following a 5.3% organic revenue decline in Q1.
