A strong nor'easter is expected to bring flooding, wind gusts, heavy rain and rip currents along the East Coast from Maine to Washington, D.C., over the weekend. The Federal Aviation Administration said strong winds could disrupt flights at all three major New York City-area airports, while Amtrak warned of possible service disruptions in the Northeast.
2. Warnings and cancellations
The National Weather Service said winds of up to 55 miles per hour in some areas could make driving difficult. New York City officials warned of possible basement flooding, power outages and travel disruptions. American Airlines, JetBlue and United Airlines waived change fees for eligible Northeast flights from Friday through Sunday.
3. Events rescheduled
The Global Citizen Festival in Manhattan's Central Park and Ed Sheeran concerts near Boston were canceled. Sunday's Chicago Cubs-Boston Red Sox game was moved to Friday as part of a doubleheader, and the New York Yankees moved Saturday's home game against the Baltimore Orioles to Friday afternoon.
