Norwegian Cruise Unveils Biofuel, Shore Power Investments and 16-Ship Expansion

The 2025 Sail & Sustain report details investments in operational efficiency, including expanded shore power connectivity at key ports and biofuel offtakes. It also outlines progress toward methanol and liquefied natural gas capabilities for select newbuilds, furthering the company’s alternative fuel readiness.
2. Marine Conservation Partnerships
Norwegian Cruise Line has launched new eDNA monitoring initiatives and marine conservation collaborations to track biodiversity and protect ecosystems in cruise destinations. These partnerships aim to strengthen environmental stewardship across its global itineraries.
3. Workforce and Community Programs
The company invested in leadership development, training, mentorship and wellness programs for its workforce of over 120 nationalities. It also increased funding for local partnerships, workforce development and cultural programs in key destinations to boost economic opportunities.
4. Fleet Expansion Roadmap
Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings plans to add 16 additional ships across its three brands by 2037, which will increase fleet capacity by approximately 43,000 berths. This expansion underscores long-term growth objectives and value creation through disciplined fleet additions.
